With a total of 115 crews on the entry list, the round will race in Gran Canaria from 2nd of May until 4th. The current leaders of the FIA European Rally Championship are on the top of an entry list that shows quality and cuantity.

 

The 43rd Rally Islas Canarias already has an official entry list. Today that document has been published and reflects a total of 115 crews. It is, without a doubt, one of the most outstanding in the history of the Gran Canaria round, since the number of participants and the score of countries represented must be added to that number.

The number one is for the current leaders of the continental championship. Lukasz Habaj and Daniel Dymurski will be it in their Skoda Fabia R5, the model of that category most repeated in this second round of the FIA ​​European Rally Championship. They will be a dozen units of the Czech model, a detail to consider when couples like Chris Ingram-Ross Whittock, Marijan Griebel-Stefan Kopczyk, Pierre-Louis Loubet-Vincent Landais or Xevi Pons-Rodrigo Sanjuán, put their wheel.

Alexey Lukyanuk-Alexey Arnautov, will defend their last three victories in Gran Canaria as current European champions. They will be at the wheel of a brand-new Citroën C3 R5, an unprecedented machine in the Canary Islands. With another unit like that of the Russian couple, José María López-Borja Rozada and Emma Falcón-Eduardo González, will take the game with one of those vehicles that will be the target of the flashes. Something similar to what will happen to the most modern of the R5 category, the Volkswagen Polo GTI that will travel the Gran Canaria sections in the hands of Norbert Herczig-Ramón Ferencz and Dani Marbán-Víctor Ferrero. The winning vehicle of the last three editions, the Ford Fiesta R5, is repeated this year in just two teams, Luis Monzón-José Carlos Déniz and Nikolaus Mayr-Melnhof-Poldi Welsersheimb.

Special follow-up will have to be done to the Hyundai i20 R5. Iván Ares-David Vázquez, José Antonio Suárez-Alberto Iglesias, Surhayén Pernía-Alba Sánchez and Yeray Lemes-Ariday Bonilla, are called to fight for the first places. With a Peugeot 208 T16 R5 will repeat the regional runners-up in the Canary Islands, Adrián García-Raquel Ruiz, while with Citroën DS3 R5 will be at the start with Armide Martín-Pedro Domínguez and Roberto Blach-José Murado.


Among the R2 cars, the great protagonist is Peugeot with a lot of teams. Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández head that window of the competition and will fight against differents Opel Adam R2. The Abarth Rally Cup debuts at the Rally Islas Canarias and, without a doubt, its 124 Rally will be the protagonists.
