La Aldea de San Nicolás will be part of the route of the 49th Rally Islas Canarias, which will count towards the World Rally Championship. A historic milestone for the sporting event. This Monday, November 25, Germán Morales, Promoter and President of the Organizing Committee of the Rally Islas Canarias, Victor Hernandez, Mayor of La Aldea, Ulises Afonso, Councillor for Sports of La Aldea, and Jose Angel Batista, director of the Rally Islas Canarias, have met to work and set the route for 2025.

In this sense, Germán Morales has stated that the Organizing Committee of the Rally Islas Canarias is delighted that municipalities such as La Aldea, with the projection it has, is part of the event in 2025.

For his part, Víctor Hernández, the Mayor of La Aldea, said: ‘it is a source of pride for this municipality that a sporting event like the Rally Islas Canarias, with the impact it has and that next year will be part of the WRC, passes through our municipality’.

He also explained: ‘it is a pleasure to be part of the Rally Islas Canarias for the economic and touristic repercussion that the sporting event generates in our municipality, putting it in the spotlight worldwide’.

Also, on Wednesday November 6, the Delegate of Safety of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Nicolas Klinger, visited the island of Gran Canaria to check the route of the Rally Islas Canarias. During his visit he stated that the area of La Aldea where the Rally Islas Canarias will take place is one of his favourites. He emphasized the landscape, which highlights areas such as ‘Los Azulejos’, and the kilometres with which the road has good asphalt, as well as virado and selective.

Finally, at the meeting, the City Council of La Aldea and the Rally Islas Canarias have drawn up a plan for the residents of the area are fully informed of the road closures. Also, the City Council of La Aldea will conduct various meetings with the residents of the areas linked to the route and know in detail the positive impact of hosting this type of test in the municipality, also possibilities to promote the entrances and exits of the population centers.
