The Rally Islas Canarias has met with the City Council of Vega de San Mateo to talk about the next edition. Both parties are already working for 2025 and for the municipality to return to be protagonist in the route of the Rally Islas Canarias. Vega de San Mateo has already participated actively in the rally countless times. However, in 2025 the event will be part of the World Rally Championship (FIA World Rally Championship), a historic milestone that consolidates the Rally Islas Canarias in the international rally scene. It will also offer fans a unique opportunity to enjoy a world-class event on Spanish territory.
The enclave of San Mateo is strategic when it comes to raise a rally of this magnitude. In addition, the type of road is ideal for the practice of rallies. This, coupled with the number of residents who have this sport among their favorites, has led to a first meeting between the City Council of the Vega de San Mateo and the Rally Islas Canarias. The meeting was attended by Davinia Falcón Marrero, mayor of Vega de San Mateo, Miguel Enrique Reyes Vega, Councillor for Accessibility and Transport, Safety and Traffic, and Sports, and Germán Morales, president of Todo Sport and president of the Organizing Committee of the rally.
