The battle for the podium is still on as the second leg of the Rally Islas Canarias starts

With Lukyanuk and Arnautov unmovable from the best times in the stages Arucas, Moya, Valleseco and Telde – having gained an advantage of nearly 40'' – Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández have settled a second place ahead of Miko Marczyk-Szymon Gospodarczyk and Enrique Cruz-Yeray Mujica, who lead the regional part of the Rally.

The second leg of the 45th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias has confirmed the superiority of Alexey Lukyanuk and Alexey Arnautov (Citroën C3 Rally2) and the tight battle for the other two honour positions on the podium in the international part. The Russians have once again monopolised the scratches in the four stages raced – Arucas, Moya, Valleseco and Telde ‘Tradición del Motor’ – taking their leadership even further to 37,7'', a distance almost impossible to cut down by their rivals if everything goes its normal course.

The gaps among the rest of the teams are being really small. Consequently Efrén Llarena and Sara Fernández (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) had to increase their pace in order to assure their 2nd position, in this case over their rivals for the European Sub-Championship, Miko Marczyk-Szymon Gospodarczyk (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo), 3rd position 6,4'' away from the Spanish couple and 4,4'' ahead of Enrique Cruz-Yeray Mujica (Ford Fiesta Rally2), who were affected in the stage Arucas as the Citroën C3 Rally2 from Yoann Bonato-Benjamin Boulloud went off the road. The Canarian team took the 4th position with Simone Campedelli-Tania Canton (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) 4,3'' behind.

The Disa team continues at the top of the regional ranking of this Rally, although they placed 2nd in the Spanish Super Rally Championship (S-CER), 10.80'' behind Llarena and Fernández after their stunning pace change. Iván Ares-David Vázquez (Hyundai i20 R5) overtook Surhayén Pernía-Alba Sánchez (Hyundai i20 R5), who fell behind in this section due to a puncture and the break down of an anti-roll bar. Nil Solans-Marc Martí placed themselves 7th between both Hyundai in the ERC and 4th in the S-CER.

Once again in the regional ranking of the Rally Islas Canarias, Luis Monzón-José Carlos Déniz remain in the 3rd position with Yeray Lemes-Rogelio Peñate (Hyundai i20 N Rally2) already on podium positions after the flat tire in Valleseco of Miguel Suárez and Dani Sosa, who have now placed 4th. Emma Falcón-Edu González (Citroën C3 Rally2) have pulled out of this section.

The 45th edition of this Rally will end this afternoon with a second round through the stages ‘Arucas’ (7.18 km), ‘Moya’ (12.96 km) and ‘Valleseco’ (14.56 km), as well as ‘Telde Ciudad Deportiva’ (11.07 km) as the grand finale in regards to the competition before the awards ceremony, which will be taking place in the Gran Canaria Arena, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
