Wednesday, 11th May 2022.

The Rally Islas Canarias heads towards the moment of truth. This Wednesday the performance has been taking place between the special stages, where the teams have done the recce of each of the tracks in this edition, and the service park, where the mechanics have used the day to make the last fine-tune adjustments to the cars and to pass the scrutineering.

A transition day before the pulse of both teams and fans speeds up with the free practice, the qualifying stage and the shakedown, which will be taking place in San Mateo this Thursday at 12:15 pm until the afternoon. The most decisive moment of this ‘prologue’ of the Rally Islas Canarias will arrive with the qualifying stage (3:03 pm), the result of which will establish the classification order of the starting position. This stage will take place in the podium area before the press conference and the autograph session of the main teams.

But the highlight and real kick-start of this Rally Islas Canarias edition will be the super special stage ‘Las Palmas de Gran Canaria-DISA’ which will take place from 8:35 pm with a route of one and a half kilometres surrounding the Gran Canaria Stadium and the Gran Canaria Arena. As the other twelve rally special stages, it will be shown live through the WRC+ platform.

Meeting on security matters with the media

On this very day, the Media Safety Briefing was also held in the Media Center of the 46th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias located in the premises of the Gran Canaria Stadium. Here, Clément Lauté and Bertil Klarin explained safety issues which should be taken into account while engaging in their activities in this international race to some of the accredited media members. One more proof of the efforts taken by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile.
