Numerous attractions less than a week before the closing of the Rally Islas Canarias entries period

Victory will be sold dearly in the 46th edition of the Rally Islas Canarias to be held on May 12, 13 and 14. Among those entered are already some of the leaders of different categories of the FIA European Rally Championship.

With less than a week to go until entries closes on April 26, the Rally Islas Canarias already has numerous teams, many of them international. Over fifty participants, a fierce fight is expected for the first positions of the many categories and stages that converge in this event, the third of the FIA European Rally Championship after Fafe and Azores and the second of the Canarian Asphalt Rally Championship after the Rally Villa de Santa Brígida. In the absence of confirmation of the presence of teams called to play a leading role this season in the FIA ERC, such as Efrén Llarena-Sara Fernández and Nil Solans-Marc Martí, respectively winners of the Azores Rally and the Serras de Fafe e Felgueiras Rally, the Rally Islas Canarias can confirm the participation of the leaders of the rest of the categories of the continental event: Igor Widlak (ERC3), Andrea Mabellini (ERC4) and Joan Vinyes (ERC Open).

Among the teams that have also contacted the Organizing Committee are that of the leader of the FIA ERC, the Portuguese Armindo Araujo and the current Spanish rally super champion, the Asturian José Antonio 'Cohete' Suárez. The ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup champion, Frenchman Laurent Pellier, is one of the last teams to formalize his entry with an official Opel Corsa Rally4. Manuel Naranjo was once again, like every year, one of the first with his Peugeot 208 Rally4, a category that will have many participants.

Other names on the international scene also entered are Javier Pardo-Adrián Pérez (Skoda Fabia Rally2), Alberto Monarri-Carlos Cancela (Suzuki Swift R4LLY S), Óscar Palomo-Javier Moreno (Peugeot 208 Rally4) and Sergio Fuentes-Alain Peña from Tenerife ( Renault Clio Rally5). The Canarian contingent will be led by the champions Enrique Cruz-Yeray Mujica (Ford Fiesta Rally2) who already fought last year for their first European podium, with Luis Monzón-José Carlos Déniz (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) and Miguel Suárez-Eduardo González (Citroën C3 Rally2) among its opponents without ruling out another island team at the wheel of a Rally2.

In this 46th edition, the Organizing Committee of the Rally Islas Canarias has to congratulate itself on the presence of a large number of cups and trophies that will contribute quantity and quality to the entry list. Among them, the Clio Trophy by Toksport that for the second consecutive season is held within the FIA ERC and, at regional level, the new DISA Orvecame Rally Cup of Sports & You Canarias and the Clio Trophy Canarias. That, without forgetting the FIA R-GT Rally Cup, which is holding its second round of the season in Gran Canaria after the first was held in January, specifically at the legendary Rally Montecarlo.
