This Thursday, first highlight of the 45th Rally Islas Canarias

Wednesday – The teams participating in this FIA European Rally Championship edition have been rallying all stages during the whole day, which is crucial in order to ensure a good performance throughout both days of the competition. On Thursday, the qualifying stage, the autograph session and the starting ceremony will complete a quite intense day.

The Rally Islas Canarias is just starting to heat up. Throughout the day, the teams entered in this last FIA European Rally Championship edition have covered a large part of the geography of Gran Canaria in order to recce the special stages set out by the organisation.

From 7.30 am until late in the afternoon, the more than 70 participants have been focusing exclusively on making pacenotes and going over them. This process, which is usual during the previous days of each race, was carried out at an ideal temperature, so the on site work took place without major inconvenience.

Thursday 18th – first big day
Certainly is Thursday a significant date on the calendar of the motor racing fans, who once again will be playing the leading role in this edition. Tomorrow will be characterised by the beginning of out-and-out action on the tarmac.

The free practice for the priority drivers FIA, ERC1, ERC2 and ERC3 will start at 12.15 pm in the town Telde whereas the qualifying stage will be starting around 3 am for this very same group of teams, which will provide the opportunity to choose the starting positions of the first leg. This position setting will take place in the Gran Canaria Arena at 5.15 pm.

The venue located in the capital city of Gran Canaria will be very much leading this first official day of the race as it will also be hosting the press conference prior to the beginning of the rally, followed by the autograph session intended for the fans that will take place between 6 pm and 7 pm.

Although without doubt the highlight will start at 8.30 pm with the starting ceremony, which for the very first time will be held in such a venue. From the seats of the Gran Canaria Arena the fans will be able to cheer up for the teams entering this chapter in the history of the Rally Islas Canarias.
